The Foundation is seeking a Development Associate to work collaboratively to enhance the growth and success of the various development activities including the Access to Justice Campaign, the Leadership Bank Program and the Michigan State Bar Foundation Fellows Program. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team. This position may offer an opportunity for growth into additional development responsibilities.
Qualifications and Responsibilities
Education, Experience and Skills
- A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
- Two or more years of relevant work experience in a related field is preferred.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Excellent administrative skills.
- Strong personal work ethic and personal initiative, and ability to organize time, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Strong interest and commitment to strengthening resources for civil legal aid in Michigan.
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with a dynamic team.
- Interested in implementing new systems and strategies to enhance revenue and strengthen the organization.
- Proficient in MS Office, with an emphasis on Word and Excel. Experience in using a database system, including Raiser’s Edge 7 and NXT, strongly preferred
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage gift processing activities.
- Enter contributions and reports into the Foundation’s database systems and maintain and continually update the donor and financial institution database systems, ensuring data accuracy and system integrity.
- Process timely gift acknowledgment letters and tax receipts.
- Produce routine and custom reports in support of fundraising and marketing efforts.
- Maintain a filing and retrieval system for donor records and financial institution reports.
- Respond to donor, lawyer and financial institution inquiries regarding data.
- Assist in planning events.
- Assist in the production and mailing of appeals.
- Assist in the production and mailing of recognition materials and Annual Reports.
- Support other staff in supporting and responding to the Board, committees, donors and other stakeholders.
- Provide general administrative support and other duties as assigned.
