The Michigan State Bar Foundation has released its 2023 Grantee Services Report providing a summary of the legal services provided to thousands of low-income Michigan residents over the past year.
With approximately 1.69 million low-income residents eligible for civil legal aid, the Foundation’s funded programs delivered critical services impacting more than 131,000 people in households including more than 59,000 children.
Key highlights of the report include:
- A summary of Michigan’s civil legal aid infrastructure;
- Real life success stories and outcomes achieved;
- A breakdown of services provided by legal aid organizations, and
- Strategic investments made by the Foundation to close the justice gap.
“The work of our grantees remains vital to the well-being of thousands of our low-income populations,” said Executive Director Jennifer Bentley. “We are committed to advancing the civil justice system through our investments and collaborations with stakeholders.”
